Our Approach

Real Learning Through Connection

Immersive & Off the Beaten Path

We don’t do mass tourism. Our student experiences take place in authentic countryside settings—olive farms, vineyards, rural kitchens—where food, learning, and storytelling come together.

Hosted by Real Farmers, Winemakers & Chefs

Each visit is led by passionate people who live their craft. Students engage in direct exchange with the individuals shaping Catalonia’s food culture.

Sustainable by Design—Tailored to Your Team

All our partners are small-scale organic producers who prioritize low-impact practices. We design our programs to balance budget, immersion, and educational depth without compromising on quality.

Testimonials

Our educational programs are consistently praised by teachers and students alike

Barcelona Slow Travel hosted two unforgettable, culturally immersive excursions for my study abroad students in June 2024. These deeply engaging tours were the highlight of our program.

First, we visited a beautiful olive farm, enchanted by the idyllic property, the kindness of our hosts, the knowledge shared, and the extraordinary food. It was delicious, educational, and—most importantly—it felt like coming together with old friends.

The next evening, we explored the Gracia neighborhood, soaking up the local tapas culture with natural wines, artisan cheeses, and traditional Catalan dishes. The people, food, and conversation were fabulous, and many memories were made.

Both tours were so thoughtfully planned by Guillermo and his team. He was always available and offered entertaining, thought-provoking insights throughout. He gave us a beautiful taste of Catalan culture, and we’re grateful for these shared moments.

We send Guillermo, the farmers, cooks, and everyone who helped create these experiences our heartfelt gratitude—and we can’t wait for more this summer!

Chef Jennifer Hostetter,

Instructor, University of Central Florida

I’ve worked with Guillermo and Cristina since 2019 through a university course I teach on food writing, and I can’t recommend their company enough.

Every year, they help us explore Catalonia through a farm-to-table lens--- meeting winemakers, farmers, cheesemakers, and other incredible local producers.

The experiences they create are thoughtful, authentic, and give students a real sense of place, especially when we’re outside the city in the Catalan countryside.

Their approach to travel really aligns with what I value personally: slow, small-scale, and rooted in sustainability.

It’s the kind of tourism that supports local communities and leaves a lifelong impression. Whether you're traveling for the food, wine, or a deeper understanding of the region, I’d absolutely recommend any of the experiences that Barcelona Slow Travel offers.
