Together with our expert guide, your team will visit two organic, family-run wineries to discover the secrets of wine and cava making. All the visits will be fully private and run by the winery owners or the winemakers themselves so you’ll get the inside track from the experts. Your group wine tasting will include a selection of incredible premium cavas, red, whites, roses or the ancestral, a natural single-fermentation sparkling wine. While there are several wine regions close to Barcelona, we chose the Penedès DO for our team building activities because it is one of Spain’s most important and historic wine regions. It is also the first wine region in the world to use 100% organic grapes. Penedès is the birthplace of cava, Spain’s famous sparkling wine, and the incredible range of styles and grape varieties grown in the Penedès wine region make it a must-visit for any wine lovers! Local Catalan grapes such as Xarel·lo, Macabeu, and Parellada are central to cava production, while international varieties like Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon thrive here too. In recent years, winemakers have also used native grapes such as Sumoll, Garnatxa, Xarel·lo, and Malvasia de Sitges to produce fabulous single varietal wines. We always choose non-commercial wineries with a strong focus on native varieties so you'll get to try some of these unique wines.
