9:30am Start of the Gastronomic Day Trip from Barcelona
10:45am Meeting with local farmers
Get ready to meet with friendly Catalan farmers and discover a sustainable project just a few kilometers away from Barcelona. The farmers will explain about how they’ve converted several hundreds of hectares to organic farming, protected them from overurbanization and of course you’ll learn about seasonal products.
This project is an association of farmers and makers producing hand in hand different kind of vegetables, legumes, ancient grains, flours, pasta, beer and more- all organic of course! After receiving an explanation, you’ll be able to pick some seasonal vegetables directly in the fields with the help of the farmers. You’ll be saving them to cook them later on.
12:30pm Cooking at the farmhouse
Time to go to a somptous ancient farmhouse, home to another project of organic farming (free range organic egg production). There, you’ll meet with a professionally trained chef and together prepare an authentic Catalan meal with the vegetables you’ve picked a bit earlier. The chef will bring some food as well, all locally sourced from small producers, and most of it organic as well.
You’ll be participating in the preparation of a full meal: starter (using your harvest of the day), main dish (usually meat cooked on woodfire) and dessert (using the organic eggs from the farmhouse). Any food intolerance or preference can be requested when booking so as to adapt the menu to your needs.
2:30pm Traditional lunch
4:15pm Time to return to Barcelona
5pm End of the Gastronomic Day Trip from Barcelona
The food served for lunch is always traditional, and most, if not all of the ingredients are sourced straight from small, local producers. The wine is locally sourced as well.
Most of the food will be organic.
Both sustainable projects have strict policies of recycling. All the plastic, glass and paper waste produced is recycled.
By purchasing this experience, you’re supporting 2 sustainable projects of organic farming. You’re also participating in the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage of the area.
