SHORT DESCRIPTION
Join our Beyond Montserrat Tour from Barcelona and discover 2 fantastic small-scale boutique producers of the Montserrat area (1-hour drive north of Barcelona), far off the tourist radar. We’ll take you first to a fantastic hidden, family-run organic winery producing renowned, small-batch wines made of local indigenous grapes. You’ll enjoy a 2-hour private visit of the winery with the owner himself and learn about the history of the winery, how they produce quality wines and all the secrets of premium organic winemaking.
The visit will be followed by a fantastic wine tasting to start the day in the best possible way. Expect quality premium wines paired with premium local produce. Note that this winery also produces its own small-batch, premium organic extra-virgin olive oil. You’ll also get a 30 minutes olive oil tasting during the visit.
We’ll then take you to visit a nearby family-run, small-scale goat cheese farm. Your friendly host and farm owner will show you around and tell you how they raise goats in the most natural way to produce some of the most exceptional and renowned cheeses of Catalonia. You’ll learn about cheese making and see the goats herd (baby goats are often very happy to interact with children!).
And, of course, you’ll have a fantastic tasting of 7+ types of cheeses, all produced organically on the farm in small batches (that includes a cheese cured for over 5 years in olive oil!). The cheese tasting will be paired with premium local organic wines and followed by a lunch made of local, artisanal cured meats and a fresh, gourmet organic salad. For dessert, you’ll try the specialty flan of the house, as well as the regional cottage cheese called “Mató”. Everything is of course produced on site, in small batches, and always from the finest possible quality.
Prepare yourself for a warm welcome, and to meet people thankful for your presence and support. You won’t just meet producers, you’ll meet real artists whose passion will inspire you. As in all our experiences, you’ll get an exclusive visit to each place not just with any guide but with the owner of the place him/herself. Prepare to not only get a deeper understanding of the projects we’ll visit, but also make new friends with local producers and get a deep understanding of the food culture of the Montserrat region (and you’ll always get the most magnificent views over the mystic mountain!).

We are currently looking for options to reduce the CO2 emissions for this experience. We aim to use hybrid or electric vehicles on the long term, as public transportation is not available in the area.
All the wine tastings will be from the local wineries visited. The food served for lunch is always traditional, and most of the ingredients are sourced straight from small, local producers.
All the projects visited during this Beyond Montserrat Tour from Barcelona are organic. 100% of the food and drinks offered during the experience are organic.
The projects we visit have strict policies of recycling. All the plastic, glass and paper waste produced is recycled. Non-recycled waste for this activity is close to 0.
We aim to empower small, family-run businesses of the area which are not benefiting yet from the tourism.

Tour Reviews
Beyond Montserrat Tour
We enjoyed an amazing day with Guillermo and Cristina. They picked us up at our hotel (even accommodating a last minute time change) and took us to a fabulous winery and olive grove. It was a beautiful place, where we met the most fun and dedicated olive growers and vintners. We loved the wine so much we had to ship some home! The views were amazing, the knowledge they shared amazing, and the entire experience there was fantastic.
From there, we visited a cute little dairy farm (goats). Also stunningly beautiful and the goats were charming and delightful – and the cheeses…..and the FLAN! oh my!
We had such a wonderful day meeting everyone, and Guillermo and Cristina were so good at reading our fun – that we stayed a couple of hours past expected – and so Guillermo was kind enough to drive out of his way to drop us off for our next adventure!
Thank you so much for a perfect day! We loved it!
