SHORT DESCRIPTION
Join our Beyond Montserrat Tour and discover 2 fantastic small-scale boutique producers of the Montserrat area (1-hour drive north of Barcelona), far off the tourist radar.
We’ll take you first to a family-run, small-scale organic olive oil farm run by a local olive-oil expert. Our friendly host and farm owner will show you around and tell you about the history of the Montserrat region and the 500 years of history of his farm. He’ll take you on a walk to discover the century-old olive trees of the farm and you’ll learn the differences between the local olive varieties.
Then, it will be time to taste some of the best local olive oil! We have set up the olive oil tasting in a beautiful pine-tree forest surrounding the farm, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. There, you’ll have a tasting of 3 premium extra-virgin organic olive oils, produced artisanally in small batches. You’ll learn the secrets of olive oil from your host, who apart from being the owner of the farm also happens to be an internationally recognized olive oil taster. Prepare to enjoy a unique and custom experience and to have all your questions answered!
After the tasting, you will enjoy a traditional Catalan meal prepared and served by a skilled private chef, and made using ingredients from the farm (olive oil, vinegar, honey, and wild herbs) as well as ingredients sourced from other small-scale farms of the area. And, of course, you will be invited to pair your dishes with the olive oils previously tasted, and with some of the finest wine of the region.
Ready for more?
Our next stop will be to a nearby fantastic hidden, family-run organic winery producing renowned, small-batch wines made of local indigenous grapes. You’ll enjoy a 2,5-hour private visit of the winery with the owner himself and learn about the history of the winery, how they produce quality wines, and all the secrets of premium organic winemaking.
We’ll start the visit with a short tour in the fields to take a closer look at the vineyards, learn about the regional varieties and specific growing conditions. We’ll then visit the winery installations and learn about the process of winemaking, from the harvest to the careful hand selection and press to the fermentation. Finally, the last stop of our visit will take us to a fantastic underground cellar which serves as the wine aging room for the winery. There, you’ll have the unique opportunity to taste at least 3 wines (usually a mix of robust red wines aged for at least 12 months and whites aged for several years!!!) directly from the oak barrels!
We’ll then move on to the tasting room where 3 of the top wines from the winery will be served, paired with wonderful local produce (nuts, cheeses, cured meats, etc… all artisanal products from the region).
Prepare yourself for a warm welcome, and to get a really unique experience. We’ve offered this experience since 2018, and we are amazed at how incredible it went and at the wonderful feedback we get. We’ve seen wine collectors drop a tear during the wine tasting, and people with more limited wine or olive oil knowledge learn and enjoy lots from both visits. Because both the olive oil farm and the winery owners are so dedicated and patient, they are working wonders at making the visits super custom and fit to everyone who comes with an interest in learning about and tasting some of the best wines and olive oils of the region. We’ve even had families with kids where the children enjoyed as much as their parents!
We hope you too get to enjoy this experience!

We are currently looking for options to reduce the CO2 emissions for this experience. We aim to use hybrid or electric vehicles on the long term, as public transportation is not available in the area.
All the wine tastings will be from the local wineries visited. The food served for lunch is always traditional, and most of the ingredients are sourced straight from small, local producers.
All the projects visited during this Beyond Montserrat Tour from Barcelona are organic. 100% of the food and drinks offered during the experience are organic.
The projects we visit have strict policies of recycling. All the plastic, glass and paper waste produced is recycled. Non-recycled waste for this activity is close to 0.
We aim to empower small, family-run businesses of the area which are not benefiting yet from the tourism.

Tour Reviews
Beyond Montserrat Tour
We enjoyed an amazing day with Guillermo and Cristina. They picked us up at our hotel (even accommodating a last minute time change) and took us to a fabulous winery and olive grove. It was a beautiful place, where we met the most fun and dedicated olive growers and vintners. We loved the wine so much we had to ship some home! The views were amazing, the knowledge they shared amazing, and the entire experience there was fantastic.
From there, we visited a cute little dairy farm (goats). Also stunningly beautiful and the goats were charming and delightful – and the cheeses…..and the FLAN! oh my!
We had such a wonderful day meeting everyone, and Guillermo and Cristina were so good at reading our fun – that we stayed a couple of hours past expected – and so Guillermo was kind enough to drive out of his way to drop us off for our next adventure!
Thank you so much for a perfect day! We loved it!
